Don Aitken, Director of Software Development

Don is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the SMARTHINKING technology platform, overseeing the work of SMARTHINKING's development team, and promoting software engineering best practices at SMARTHINKING. Don has over 7 years of experience in software development.

Before joining SMARTHINKING, Don worked as a Senior Software Engineer for General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, where he was involved in numerous government research projects that aimed at increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of our nation's intelligence analysts. He developed many desktop applications and middleware systems—including structured argumentation tools, shared workspaces, and personal content management systems.

Don joined SMARTHINKING as Lead Software Developer in 2005 and has worked on many internal and external projects.

Don holds a B.S. in computer studies from the University of Maryland.
